Nigerians, ye make an Owl of yourselves ~ Don Abiodun Odedeyi

Let me start by saying, "Nigeria, you are in deep shit".
Nine policemen abducted by pipeline vandals in Arepo. What in the world is happening to Nigeria my beloved country?
Fifty-four military personnel killed in Gombe!!!!
And if I remember correctly, about 120 DSS, policemen SSS etc were disemboweled by a sect in Nasarawa.
Sect! Sect, vandals, robbers, #BokoHaram everybody kicking the asses of our beloved security forces.
Like an owl who decides not to see in broad daylight, you (Nigerians) just decided to look elsewhere on these evils maybe because it is not happening in your backyards.
Remember the Kaduna Bomb video that went viral in 2012? Let me remind you...

... A bag filled with what look like nylon waste rest on a street light pole, people gathered on both left nd right of the road. The road itself has been condoned off by a team of bomb-disposal unit whose black pick-up truck was packed across the road.
A tall black policeman approached the suspected bag with cheers and whistle from the bystanders. His AK-47 slung cross shoulder, a hand scanner on his right hand.
He hastily protrude the bag with the hand scanner as if the 3000 naira gadget was going to shout "bomb in here"... Next thing, he hanged the scanner between his legs then proceed to search the nylon barehand and then "Ka-BooOOM".
When the dust cleared, his lifeless body lay not more than 6 feet from where his patriotic self was thrown. One of his legs suddenly emerged among the crowd who immediately kissed their heels.
With a controlled robot plus a bomb-suit, both costing. Not more than $5000, he might be alive today but his case is that of many of our security agencies today who, on behalf, billions of naira were secured to aide their jobs but got sub-sub-sub standard equivalents or nothing.

Where are these funds going to and who is holding them?
While we may never know all or track where all these funds are disappearing to, a simple example of such, we believe, would have acted as a 'ricochet-effect', sending a strong message to those indulging and/or planning similar stuffs.
Some of them are still roaming our streets, enjoying their ill-gotten wealths and left alone by our very own government.
What then do we call this? Aiding and abetting?
Well, take a look
1. Yakubu Yusuf: He confessed to have stolen Pension fund to the tune of n40billion... He was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with an option of 750,000naira
2. National Independent Power Project handled about 300 power projects valued at N430bn...NIPP does not keep its accounts with the CBN like other government Agencies, a firm owned by a former Senator, Anietie Okon never bided but got power contracts worth billions of Naira.
N6.2bn was paid to Companies like Aktra, Zumo, Bangasa, Aolat Nig. Ltd, (totaling over 50), BUT THESe COMPANIES have no evidence of incorporation record at the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC ... Moreso, a World bank blacklisted Company got a power contract within this period worth billions of Naira.
These atrocities are public knowledge, known even to every judge that tried some of these cases.
3. No one seems to notice that Lahmeyer, a German firm, was awarded N600m feasibility contract on a power project, has collected N370m but has never been to the site of the project. 4. PAYMA-BARGH and CARTALARK International collected N4.5bn for a job of N5.9bn meant to be completed in three months time and disappeared.
4. Recently, Nigeria Immigration conducted it recruitment exercise across the nation's 36 states, about n200billion was raked in the process, 21 fatality too and after some pocket of protest, the exercise was canceled.
That's is cool or bloody 200billion plus for the Immigration and whoever think up the idea.
5. Well, realizing that the game of 'ghost-soldiers' is up, the Nigeria Army also is recruiting 'able-bodied men' for short military service. Forms are obtainable at n2500.
To serve once's fatherland, laying down his/her live, assigned machete and stick and still pay n2500?
I stand to be educated that this sort of racketeering is synonymous with Nigeria and Nigeria alone.
We seems to forget the saying "for every action, there is a reaction"... For every penny stolen, a thousand suffers.
Thus, news trickling in from the north-east, to many, is a fair bargain of corruption deals that have been perpetuated in this country.
Yet, we act, still, like the very owl we are while governor Akpabio of Akwa Ibom twist-handed 'his' state assembly to approve about n200million annual pension bill.
What do we call this? Executive compensation?
What will happen if this new dimension of thieving is not strike down hard?
If Boko Haram, with 1 armour tank, six hilux trucks and several motorcycle can dislodged a military base, I wonder what make up our military base...
... Sticks and machetes?
More worrisome is the fact that this attack wasn't carried out on a patrol team, the military base is located in a town... A town!
So, Boko Haram teleport into town then attack a military base in a state under state of emergency? Are we saying there are no police/military checkpoints in locations before you get into the town?
Well, I will leave you with this words from Okonjo Iweala: "150 billion naira has beed release between January 2014 till date to the Nigeria Army"
